SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Nongthymmai Circle on June 2 closed down the Renault showroom at Mawblei after the staff there complained of harassment by the employers.
As many as twenty employees of the showroom had approached the HYC after eight of them received warning letters, signed by trainer Rashmi Shankar Biswa and showroom manager Ravi Chetri, that they would be dismissed.
Richard Kylla, one of the affected employees, alleged that the owner of the car showroom served them warning letters without any valid reason.
The company has a probation period of six months but it is showing its highhandedness after some of the employees completed only 2-3 months, he said.
HYC said it would approach the authorities of the Renault Company on the issue.
