Retired college teachers demand social security

SHILLONG: A five-member delegation of Meghalaya Retired College Teachers’ Association (MRCTA) called on Higher and Technical Education Minister Roshan Warjri here on Tuesday to air their various demands.
The delegation raised issues concerning the retired and serving college teachers of the State which include extension of social security benefits to the retired teachers, enhancement of retirement age as per UGC norms, extension of other allowances (house rent, medical, winter and hill compensatory allowance) which were taken away from the teachers earlier; and uniform implementation of revised rates of Death cum Retirement Gratuity benefits from the date of implementation of revised pay scales.
