Domestic help held in Assam for stealing Rs 10 lakh

New Delhi:  A domestic help was arrested from Assam for allegedly stealing Rs 10 lakh from his employer’s residence in Sainik Farms area in south Delhi, the police said on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, the accused was recently arrested from Assam by the Delhi police with the help of the government railway police, they said, adding, Rs 6.01 lakh cash and expensive electronic gadgets were recovered from the accused’s possession.
Sainik Farms-resident Harcharan Singh had complained to police on May 30 that Rs 10 lakh cash, which he had kept at his home for giving salary to employees of his factory in Himachal Pradesh, was stolen. He told police that he had gone to the airport to pick his wife, leaving behind three domestic help at his house.
Singh raised suspicion about the accused’s involvement as he had gone missing after the incident. A police team led by SHO of Neb Sarai police station, Inspector Kuldeep Singh Yadav conducted several raids at his possible hideouts in Delhi but failed to trace him as he kept changing locations frequently.
The team obtained his mobile phone number and other details and following a tip-off arrested him in Assam. (PTI)
