JOWAI: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) has decided to revive the issue of Reservation Police and the setting up of a B.Ed College in Jaintia Hills. The JSU chief Rikut N Parien informed the gathering at District Library Auditorium on Friday during the felicitation of its new office bearers.
“We are to revive two long pending issues of the district, including the Reservation Policy and the B.Ed College,” Parien said. He also highlighted several achievements as demanded and spearheaded by the JSU.
The JSU on Friday felicitated its new officer members including its presidents who have been re-elected for another term till 2020. The function was attended by several groups’ leaders including JYF president, P. Majaw, HNPF president, Lone K Laloo and former JSU president, Philemon Lyngdoh, Rikitto Nongtdu, Dr. H C Pakyntein, Embhah Lyngdoh and others. JYF chief, former MDC, Philemon Lyngdoh and HC Pakyntein expressed their concerned over the new JSU 1. According to them, the JSU 1, which is a faction of the Jaintia Students’ Union, is nothing but a political tactic to divide the unity of the people.
The JSU new office bearers are Rikut N Parien as the president, Lawyerson War and Emperor Bareh as working presidents, Jersome Shylla as the General Secretary, Besterwell Dkhar assistant general secretary, Deibha Syngkon – finance secretary, Yoosar Kynjin – organising secretary, Tnebha Phawa – assistant organising, Education Secretary – Request Pakma, assistant education secretary Jordan Rymbai, game and sports- Damekit Sumer, assistant games and sports Silvester Syrpuh, publicity secretary Tricky Mukhim, Arts and Cultural secretary Chebha Passah, assistant Arts and Cultural, Emerald M Rymbai, disciplinary secretary, Trainbormi War and Niwel Papiah as the office secretary.
