Land compensation in EGH DC’s hand: Union Ministry

SHILLONG: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari has informed Tura MP Conrad Sangma that the land acquisition estimate of Rs 390.51 crores for NH 44 (E) Shillong-Nongstoin-Tura section was sanctioned by the Ministry on November 11, 2016. Responding to the query of the MP, the Union Minister also informed that the compensation amount has been deposited with the Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), East Garo Hills. “The disbursement to the affected person is to be expedited by the State Government,” the Minister said in his response to Sangma.
In addition, the Ministry is also pursuing the matter with the State Government to expedite disbursement of compensation to the land owners, the reply added.
