Kohima: The Naga People’s Front (NPF)-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) coalition on Wednesday said it had nothing to say if anybody had decided to pull out of the partnership as the Nagaland Unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) announced its decision to withdraw its support to DAN.

Talking to UNI on the sidelines of the General Meeting of the NPF Life Membership here this morning, NPF president and Minister for Urban Development and Higher Education Shurhozelie Lezietsu stated that withdrawal by any member party did not effect the government as all elected members had already merged with the NPF. Whether the NCP pulls out or not from the DAN coalition, it remains the same.

He also opined that the NCP had a grudge against the NPF after both the NCP legislators decided to merge with the NPF.

Dr Shurhozelie said the NCP had been accusing the NPF party of some betrayals because of the merger and asserted that even if the NCP did not have any MLA in the present house, the NPF would continue to function under the DAN coalition, which includes NCP, BJP and JD(U).

He said, ”We take them as a political party of like minded people. But if someone wants to pull out we don’t have anything to say,” he reiterated.

Then NCP legislator Chumben Murry, who also holds the portfolio of Minister for Agriculture and Pangyuh Phom, Parliamentary Secretary of Rural Development and Rural Employment and Poverty Alleviation (REPA) had formally merged with the NPF on January 12 along with their supporters, making NPF the single largest party in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly with 34 members in the 60-Member House.
