Agartala: Tripura has been recognised as top in generation of man days under MGNREGA this year too and South Tripura and Dhalai districts were selected for award while Sachindra Nagar Gram Panchayat under Jirania block of West Tripura appeared to be best village implemented the scheme.
The Union Rural development Ministry will award to two districts of Tripura and a Gram Panchayat at New Delhi tomorrow, officials said here today adding that to receive these awards two district magistrates of South and Dhalai district along with ‘Pradhan’ of Sachindra Nagar Gram Panchayat have already reached New Delhi.
The South Tripura district will receive the award for best successful implementation of Geo-tagging of MGNREGA works in stipulated time. In this category a total of eight districts of the country will receive awards, but South Tripura district will be awarded as best among all.
However, Dhalai district has been selected by the Union RD Ministry as best district of the country for overall implementation of the scheme and Sachindra Nagar Gram Panchayat has been selected as ‘best village’ of the country, which implemented MGNREGA in last financial year.
Since the implementation of MGNREGA scheme across the country in the year 2005-06, Tripura maintained top positions in the country and during the last four financial years Tripura secured top positions for man-days generation in MGNREGA scheme. (UNI)
