SHILLONG: Shillong College and St.Edmund’s College have entered the last-four stage of the Inter-College Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Shillong Cricket Association in collaboration with MCA & APPH Publishers at the Cricket ground, Polo.
In the first match on Wednesday, Shillong College defeated Synod College by 51 runs. Synod College won the toss and put Shillong College to bat. Playing an aggressive cricket, Shillong College piled up 123 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Maniram topscored with 55 (66 balls). Steve Syiemlieh took 2 for 18 runs.
In reply, Synod College were bowled out for 72 runs in 17.1 overs. Sanjeev Barua took 5 wickets conceding only 5 runs. In the second crucial match, St.Edmund’s College defeated archrivals St.Anthony’s College by 7 wickets. Winning the toss, St.Anthony’s College could put 77 runs in the scoreboard in 20 overs. Ravi Singh top scored with 15 (16 balls). Andrew Thabah took 4 wickets for 12 runs.
In reply St.Edmund’s College started shakily losing 2 quick wickets for 9 runs. A steady innings by Swarajeet Das 21 no (40 balls) saw the team through in 14.1 overs .
Beeru Chettri took 2 wickets. Meanwhile, BBS College and Umshyrpi College will fight for top spot in Group ‘A’ on Thursday.
