Trucks with illegal coal seized in Ri Bhoi

SHILLONG: Illegal transportation of extracted coal continues in several parts of the State even after the expiry of the May 31 deadline set by the National Green Tribunal.
Two trucks laden with coal were detained in Ri Bhoi around 7.30pm on Saturday.
The drivers, Dickson Mawlong and Teilin Kyrsian, were detained.
In another incident on Monday, a truck driven by Banpynsuklang Marwein of Kynshi village in West Khasi Hills was seized with illegal  coal in Nongpoh around 8am.
The driver was accompanied by owner Campis Masharing of Marai Kaphon in Sohra in East Khasi Hills and handyman Ribok Lyngdoh of Mairang in West Khasi Hills. All the three were detained.
