Umiam tragedy: Body fished out

 Shillong: After five days of continuous search, the body of Vishnu Thapa, a youth who had drowned in the Umiam Lake, was fished out on Friday.

Elsie Lyngdoh, a relative of the victim, informed that the body was fished out by local fishermen who immediately informed the police.

Lyngdoh also said that that the body, which had been fully swollen, was brought to his residence at Malki, after which the cremation rites were conducted.

Vishnu Thapa, drowned in the Umiam Lake when he along with two of his cousins had gone to attend the Autumn Festival on November 6 and decided to enter the venue through Nehru Park in a boat which capsized in the middle of the lake.
