SHILLONG: The Lok Janshakti Party has asked the Union Government to roll back the law of cattle sale for slaughtering purposes.
The Party, in a petition to the Minister in charge, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, said that beef is a primary food for the people of North East and the ban on sale of cattle for slaughtering purposes has affected the local population vigorously.
While opposing the ban, the Party demanded an early roll back of the law imposing the ban on sale of cattle for slaughtering purposes.
“By the imposition of the Law it seems that the Government of India is dictating the people to eat according to the Government guidelines, which cannot be justified in any manner whatsoever,” the Party added.
