SHILLONG: The HYC, HNYF and FKJGP will hold a series of public meeting starting from July 8 to mobile  public support and to mount pressure on  the state government to speed up  setting up of Mawlai Community & Rural Development  (C & RD) Block.

Expressing concern over the lackadaisical attitude of the state government, FKJGP president of Mawlai circle, Marbud  Dkhar on Wednesday said, “The meeting will be held on July 8 at Mawlai Mawtawar, on July 10 at Mawlai Mawiong, on July 13 at Mawlai petrol pump and the last one will be on July 15 at Mawlai Bus stop where we will take a resolution on this matter.”

HYC member, Donboklang Kharlyngdoh said the Chief Minister, Mukul  Sangma in his budget speech in the Assembly Session of 2016 had announced government’s plan for creation of Mawlai C& RD block.

Pointing out that there was a long delay in setting up the Block, he said, “Years and days have passed nothing has been done about  Mawlai  C & RD  whereas other C & RD blocks were created and some were also functioning.”

“Two letters were sent to the Chief Minister on May 16 and June 14, but there has not been any  response yet,” he said.
