SHILLONG: After Meira Kumar, it is NDA presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind who will address state legislators and MPs on Friday.
Kovind will attend the gathering of MLAs and MPs at Orchid Lake Resort in Umiam as part of his campaign for the upcoming election.
NPP state president WR Kharlukhi said party workers and MLAs will also attend the meeting after which Tura MP Conrad Sangma and Kovind will fly to Imphal.
NPP did not attend Kumar’s address on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, UDP working president Jemino Mawthoh said the party would attend Kovind’s address as it did for the UPA presidential candidate Kumar.
“As sign of respect, we will attend the meeting and give a patient hearing to the presidential candidate of NDA,” Mawthoh said.
The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), however, will decide on the matter on Thursday. The party skipped the meeting with Kumar.
Party MLA KP Pangniang said the party would discuss the matter in its meeting on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Congress officials said that they have not discussed the matter as of now.
