BLACKBURN: Indian poultry giants Venky’s have denied reports they are planning to sell struggling English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers.

Qatar Petroleum, a Middle East oil company, have been linked with a takeover at Ewood Park.

However, Venky’s co-owner Venkatesh Rao told Monday’s Lancashire Telegraph: “We have no interest in selling Blackburn Rovers whatsoever.”

This Saturday marks the first anniversary of Venky’s takeover with Rovers second from bottom in the table after taking just six points — with only one win — from their first 11 games this season.

Venky’s controversially sacked then Rovers manager Sam Allardyce, now in charge of second-tier Championship high-flyers West Ham, and replaced him with Steve Kean. (AFP)
