SHILLONG: The eight MLAs of the United Democratic Party will meet this week to decide on who the party would support in the presidential elections on Monday (July 17).
However, the party will meet again before July 17 to take a final call.
While NPP has said it would support NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind, HSPDP said it would boycott the election.
NPP’s James Sangma, who is the election agent for the NDA candidate, said it is not right for him to comment on who would support their candidate.
“It is a secret ballot and everyone has the right to exercise their franchise based on their likes and dislikes,” he added.
