SHILLONG: Meghalaya has prepared an exhaustive document to justify its claim on areas of difference with Assam, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said on Tuesday.
In an hour-long speech at the inaugural function of Mawpat C&RD Block, the chief minister said Meghalaya will be able to know its total area only after resolving the whole boundary dispute with Assam.
Lamenting the lack of development in areas on the Assam border, Sangma said none ever thought of bringing in development in these border areas though the issue was raised time and again.
Reiterating that the government is pumping in substantial funds under the Special Inter-State Border Area Development Programme, Sangma said both the states have agreed to carry out development works in the disputed places after informing other states about such activities.
