GUWAHATI: Showing empathy for lakhs of suffering flood affected people in Assam, two young children on Wednesday turned up at Assam Chief Minister’s office here with a sum of money for they intended to donate for the benefit of the flood-hit much to a pleasant surprise of the staff in the CMs office.
The two students, Sahil Bharadwaj, a student of Little Angels School, Borbari and Snigdha Kashyap of Mount Calvary English High School, Diphu handed over the amount to Chief Minister’s Media Adviser Hrishikesh Goswami in absence of the Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal who is in New Delhi now seeking Central assistance to tackle the flood and erosion problem in the state.
Making their humble but inspiring contribution, the two students said seeing the plight of flood-hit as beamed by television channels in the state, they decided to seek contributions from people living around them in a bid to assuage the sufferings of the people reeling under flood. The amount they collected that way was handed to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
