SHILLONG: The Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has asserted that the fall of Executive Committee of NPP-GNC-BJP in Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) was a result of the members’ greed for power and money.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he said, “They have probably been fighting for money after the huge assistance came as part of the exercise with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.”
Referring to the truism that money is the root cause of all evils, he said, “This is what happens when people cannot control their greed over money. The people have fallen on their own due to their greed for power and money.”
Getting a boost after the Congress formed the EC in the GHADC, Sangma said, “After the last election to the GHADC, I had told all Congress MDCs not to form Executive Committee (EC) as the mandate is not for the party which was a not a suggestion but a directive.”
Congress has only seven members in the GHADC. Sangma said that the Congress allowed the NPP, GNC and their like-minded members like the BJP to form the EC.
With the fall of the EC of the NPP-GNC-BJP, Sangma asserted that it has been proven that they (NPP) has been all along the partners of BJP though they had denied it.
