Cattle smuggler apprehended on the border by BSF

GUWAHATI: Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler from the international border under Cooch Behar district (WB) on Friday.

The BSF informed that while troops of BOP Talai of 38 Bn. BSF deployed in Cooch Behar district were keeping surveillance and domination over border area, observed suspicious movements of miscreants along with cattle towards international border and challenged them to stop for identification. The miscreants did not pay any heed and tried to escape towards Bangladesh along with cattle heads. One of them was apprehended by the troops after giving a chase and before they could cross the international boundary along with 12 cattle heads. Apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Noor Alom (38) from Gopaler Kutti, of Cooch Behar district of West Bengal.  He was handed over to Toofanganj police station for further legal action.

Besides, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier seized 157 cattle heads having approximate value of Rs 12,22,190 on intervening night of 20/21 July 2017.
