One dies in road mishap near Jowai

 JOWAI: A youth, identified as Mohan Phawa of Khliehtyrshi village in Jaintia Hills died on the spot after the vehicle (ML04-7969) he was driving fell into a gorge at Riat-tu-riem, near Jowai on Friday morning.

Phawa was on his way from Jowai to Khliehtyrshi.

Market building inaugurated : Parliamentary Secretary in charge PWD (Roads) Sniawbhalang Dhar inaugurated a newly-constructed village market building in Wahiajer (Iawpynsin) on Friday.

The JHADC EM, JU Nongrum, Nartiang MDC, Thombor Shiwat, Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner T Dkhar, Secretary Market Committee, I. Dhar, Rangbah shnongs were present on the occasion.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the village hat was set up by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) with a total cost of Rs 15 lakhs.

“The administration has cleared setting-up of three more village hats at Jarain, Wahiajer and Chiehruphi”, he said.

The new building has 16 stalls and one office room for the secretary of the market committee.
