In the past, the case came up before the High Court as part of a pending PIL and the court wanted trial within July.
During the hearing on Friday, the prosecution was represented by additional public prosecutor KJ Dohling, who had brought a brief written argument in favour of the prosecution.
After arguments, the court pronounced that though the accused is not found guilty under Section 376 of the IPC (rape), he is found guilty under Section 302 (murder). The accused was represented by counsel Philemon Nongbri, who had volunteered to act as the defence counsel.
