NONGPOH: The Raid Madan Kyrdem Youth Organization (RMKYWO) on Sunday expressed concern over the recent rise in taxi fare in Bhoirymbong area.
Speaking to the media, President of the RMKYWO Amberlight Masharing informed that several complaints from the people on the high rate of the taxi fare thus affecting the school children and disadvantaged families has compelled the organisation to look into the matter seriously.
He said that the taxi association of Bhoirymbong plying passengers from Kyrdem to Bhoirymbong has in the last few months increased the taxi fare to Rs. 13 each passenger and when the passengers dont have change the drivers charge Rs.15 each.
Surprisingly, the association recently increased the fare to Rs.20 each passenger badly affecting the people.
The organization discussed the issue with in-charge of the taxi association Bishar L Dhar and gave time till November 22 to give the final decision on the price of taxi fares.
The RMKYWO has strongly urged the taxi association and the drivers to reduce their rate as the rate of the petrol also had been reduced by the Government, so that the general public and school children will not have any problem in going up and down from Kyrdem to Bhoirymbong, he asserted.
