SHILLONG: The CSWO has expressed its concern over the reinstatement of SN Roy, who is allegedly involved in the gang-rape of a school girl at a city hotel at Khyndailad here on March 17 last.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said, “We are shocked to hear of the reinstatement of SN Roy who is the main accused in the rape of a minor girl. The crime was in fact facilitated by him because he could procure the rooms easily in the hotel being a police officer.

“He (Roy) has misused his power and such persons are a threat to society,” the statement read.

The CSWO also alleged that SN Roy was trafficking women and young girls to Kolkata.

“His reinstatement shows that he was either providing girls for some big influential people in the Home department or he knew all about the infamous crimes perpetrated by some very senior officers within the Police department and so someone in the Police Headquarters was obliged to him,’ the CSWO president added in a the statement.

When contacted, a senior police official said that SN Roy has been attached in Baghmara for counter-insurgency operation for one month. “It is not a regular posting and the order says he is attached for one month for the operation purposes,” the official said here on Sunday.
