SHILLONG: The All Meghalaya Malaria Programme Workers Association (AMMPWA) has renewed their long-pending demand for the absorption these workers in regular government posts.
The AMMPWA will meet concerned officials to press for fulfillment of their demand.
When contacted, publicity secretary of the association, Basil Lyngdoh, said, “Our demand is to absorb our services in the state government and if that is not possible, we urge the state government to find out ways and means to utilize the services of malaria programme workers as per their qualifications in any other government department.”
It may be recalled that AMMPWA had staged agitations last year to protest against the state government’s failure to absorb them in regular posts as directed by the Center.
According to the association members, the state government has failed to comply with the Centre’s directive to absorb the MPWs who were working in the Malaria Control Programme under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVDCP) for eradication of malaria in Meghalaya.
