Pvt hospices asked to show cause for steeping caesarian cases

GUWAHATI: Five private hospital in Goalpara town in western Assam have been served show cause notice in view of steep increase in cases of caesarian operations in those hospital of late.

The show-cause notices have been slapped on the hospices by Deputy Commissioner of the district on the basis of a report submitted by the Joint Director of Health in the district.

The report of the health official that has covered child birth cases in these hospital during April to June this year. As per the report out of 41 child birth cases in Floral Hospital 39 caesarian operations carried out (95.12 %), in Solace Hospital there were 103 caesarian operations among 121 child birth cases (85.12 %), in Seven Sisters Hospital the figure is 88 out of total 12 child birth cases (78.57 %), in Life Care Hospital 65 caesarian sections were carried out among 70 child birth case (92.86 %) and in Nirmala Healthcare Centre 50 caesarian sections were done out of 61 child birth cases (81,97 %).

The deputy commissioner of the district has called upon the people to avail adequate facilities in the 200-bed Civil Hospital where gynaecology department is manned by experienced doctors and surgeons. He said the state government provided various benefits for every childbirth in government civil hospital.
