Women thank cops ahead of I-Day
SHILLONG: In sync with the spirit of nationalism and to spread the message of national integration ahead of Independence Day, the women’s branch of Reliance Life Insurance on Friday presented Tricolour badges to all the personnel of Sadar Police Station. The badges were distributed among officers and policemen belonging to different levels including traffic and CrPF personnel manning the city. The women staff of the insurance company in their gesture also thanked and appreciated the police personnel for their efforts in maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of the people. They also thanked the police for their hard work and dedication.

Demand to provincialise college
Mawkyrwat: The Synjuk ki Seng Samla Shnong (SSSS), South West Khasi Hills District, an umbrella of all the Seng Samla Shnong of the District petitioned the Chief Minister to provincialise Sngap Syiem College to Degree and Higher Secondary Level. Ever since its establishment the enrolment has been rapidly increasing. However, the college is unable to keep pace with the urban counterparts owing to the inherent obstacles and limitations faced by a rural college. They further stated that the students have worked hard and secured good marks.

New police station created
SHILLONG: The state government has notified the creation of a new police station at Nonghyllam in South West Khasi Hills district. On creation of the new Police Station, the areas coming under its jurisdiction shall cease to be under Ranikor Police Station.

Laurels for BSF Sr. Secondary School
Shillong: Schools and colleges of Shillong participated in the the month long 43rd Annual Cultural Competition organised by Ramakrishna Mission. BSF School in Shillong which is well known for its exemplary results in academics won in two events where they bagged prizes.
Oushinar Dastidaar of Class XII  from the school bagged first Prize in English Elocution Contest and Md Enzamul E. Barbhuyan and Meshuwa K Mawthoh of Class XII were the second runners-up in the Quiz contest.
