Myntdu Leshka Hydro project: CPM refutes allegations

SHILLONG: The Chief Project Manager of the Myntdu Leshka Hydro Electric project (MLHEP), Elias Lyngdoh has denied allegations of the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) War Jaintia region recently that he has failed to live up to his promise to end the long pending demand for regularizing the workers of the project.
“It is very unfair to say that I have done nothing because in the month of September, I sent a letter to the organisation explaining the complications of the process”, Lyngdoh said.
“Regularization of these workers is not an easy thing to do, it cannot be done in a single night, it requires many steps and procedures and I have done everything I could to respond to their demands”, lamented the CPM.
Meanwhile, reacting to the allegations made by the secretary of the Association of Power Engineers (APW) and Associations Coordination Committee (ACC) A Dkhar recently on rampant corruption in MLHEP, Lyngdoh said “There is no corruption going on and already three enquiries have been conducted so far and immense efforts and hardwork has gone into the construction of the three units.”
However, when asked about the date of commissioning the first unit of the power plant, Lyngdoh said they are concluding the test but the pressure and force is very high and they cannot take risks.
It may be reminded that the State Additional Chief Secretary BK Dev Verma recently informed that the Stage I of the much-delayed project would be commissioned by November.
However, the CPM of MLHEP has refused to divulge the exact date of commissioning saying “We are contemplating to commission the first unit by November but we cannot fix an exact date as it involves many process.”
