Naypyidaw, Aug 16 (IANS) The death toll in Myanmar in swine flu cases has climbed to 25, the media reported on Wednesday.

The Health Ministry said seven new cases of H1N1 infection were detected in the last two days, Efe news cited the Global New Light of Myanmar as saying.

The latest cases have raised the number of people affected by swine flu — detected in the country late last month — to 242, of which 57 are still being treated in hospitals, the newspaper added.

In July, Myanmar had asked the World Health Organisation for help to contain the virus. Myanmar has not experienced an H1N1 influenza outbreak since the 2009 global pandemic, when dozens were infected.
