Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said he is not aware of any ‘Supra State Body’ being created for Naga inhabited areas in other neighbouring states like Assam, Arunachal and Manipur.

Interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of the sixth NPF General Convention here yesterday, Mr Rio expressed ignorance of any such development and stated that the State Government does not have any knowledge of a ‘Supra State Body’.

He said neither the Centre nor the civil societies has given any information to the State Government about such a development.

Mr Rio, however, said eventhough the state government is fully aware that the talks are progressing between the Union Government and Naga group, it is not known in what manner it is progressing.

Earlier, addressing the convention, Mr Rio reiterated that the Naga political issue continues to be at the top of the Naga Peoples Front-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland Government agenda. ”We have won the people’s mandate to run the Government on a political plank of playing the role of an active facilitator to the Naga peace process, along with an assurance that our government will make way for any alternative settlement that may come about as a result of the peace process which is honourable,” he reminded.
