SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) youth wing has threatened to protest if the state government refuses to give in to its demand to increase the upper age relaxation for Meghalaya Civil Services (MCS) examinations.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday after meeting Chief Secretary Y. Tsering for the second time, KHNAM youth wing president Thomas Passah said, “We will not wait till August 31, which is the last date to submit the MCS forms, but we will wait for 1 or 2 days to allow the government to complete the due process.”
“We will be compelled to take to the streets if the government is apathetic to our demand. However, we do not want such an incident to come up,” he added.
“The time gap for advertising the MCS examination comes up to over 9-11 years and hence the upper age relaxation is necessitated,” Passah said.
The chief secretary told the KHNAM members that the file has been forwarded to Principal Secretary, (Personnel & A.R. (A) & (B) department, RV Suchiang.
“If the state government does not take up the matter seriously, it shows that it has no responsibility towards the unemployed youth of the state,” Passah said.
It may be reminded that the KHNAM youth wing met Tsering on August 10 and then met the Chairman of MPSC on August 21 to push for the issue of age relaxation.
