NONGPOH: Former CEM of KHADC CB Syiem and a few others who quit the Congress recently have decided to field a candidate from Nongpoh constituency against DD Lapang.
Addressing a gathering of 400-odd people in a meeting held on Saturday, Syiem said they had decided to name a candidate to fight against the sitting MLA but it was yet to be decided which party the candidate would represent.
“We are fed up with the dictator rule of Mukul Sangma. Ri Bhoi under the leadership of DD Lapang has reached nowhere as most of the development schemes have been diverted by the chief minister. So it is useless to support the Congress,” Syiem said and added that the decision to field a candidate was for overall development of the district.
Among other guests were former Nongpoh MLA Constantine Lyngdoh, Thomas Roy Mallai and Augustine Wahlang.
