Meghalaya man bags gold in N-E Jeet-Kune-Do

Shillong: Ferdinand Suchiang, a bandsman from the Meghalaya Home Guards, bagged a gold medal in the 4th Northeast India Jeet Kune Do championship at Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati on Sunday.
Suchiang defeated an opponent from Assam to clinch the gold in the men’s category.
With this feat, Suchiang has qualified to represent Meghalaya at the Sub Junior/ Junior/ Men’s and Women’s National Jeet Kune Do Championship to be held from September 9 at Indoor Stadium in Kolkata.
A member of the pipe band of the Central Training Institute of Home Guards and Civil Defence at Mawdiangdiang, Suchiang is an accomplished martial arts athlete who has achieved laurels in several state, regional and national level tournaments. He is also a qualified coach of kickboxing.
