SHILLONG: The HYC held a public meeting at Pynursla on Wednesday to highlight their demands, the primary among them being the implementation of inner line permit (ILP) in the state. The meeting was organised by HYC’s Riwar Mihngi circle along with the council’s central body. Speakers at the meeting presided by Glorious Swet, president of HYC Pynursla unit, criticised the sitting MLA of Pynursla, Prestone Tyngsong, for not doing anything significant for the uplift of the minorities. Edmund Khongngai of HYC Riwar Mihngi pointed out that one of their 14 demands was to resolve the border dispute with Bangladesh. Robertjune Khar Jahrin, general secretary of HYC central body, asserted that only ILP could tackle illegal immigration. “Apart from ILP we should get the Residential Permit for Immigrants as well,” he said.
