TURA: The Anti-Corruption League (ACL), an organization from Garo Hills has demanded strong action as well as blacklisting of the guilty supplier and officials involved in the distribution of PDS rice to the victims of the recent Garo Hills floods.

During the recent distribution of relief to flood victims, while government-allotted flood relief packages of rice sealed in rainproof and colourful plastic packaging were distributed in places like Bhaitbari, Rajabala and Hallidayganj, PDS rice in regular gunny sacks were reportedly offloaded at relief camps under Phulbari.

The ACL while pointing out that the supplier would not have access to PDS rice without the involvement of some government officials urged the district administration to initiate necessary steps to punish all the guilty involved.

Meanwhile, the matter is currently under enquiry by Civil SDO of Dadenggre after West Garo Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi initiated a probe. The report of the enquiry has been asked to be submitted at the earliest.
