Woman arrested

NAGAON: A woman carrying a rhino horn, valued around Rs 15 lakh, was arrested on Monday in this Assam district. Sharifa Begum was arrested from Haiborgaon area following a tip-off, police said, adding the horn weighed 1.35 kg. (PTI)

Three drowned

AIZAWL: A woman and her two children, were drowned in the Khawthlangtuipui river at Tlabung town near the Mizoram-Bangladesh border. The 45-year-old woman Maya Devi and her two sons 12-year-old Atul Bikas and 2-year-old and Arun Bikas were drowned after water seeped into their boat on Saturday, delayed official reports said on Monday. The woman’s brother-in-law, Muni, could save 5-year-old Binoy Bikas, another son of Maya Devi by dragging him to the river bank, the reports said. (PTI)

573 HIV cases in Tripura

AGARTALA: With the identification of four new HIV positive cases, the number of such cases rose to 573 in Tripura, official sources said on Monday. The first HIV positive case was reported in the state in 2001. (PTI)
