SHILLONG: The state youth wing of the BJP, the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has demanded that Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and his Cabinet ministers should resign for their “negligence” in the matter of denial of admissions of medical students from the state in Assam-based colleges.
In a statement issued here, the BJYM has condemned the state government for its apathetic attitude to pursue the matter in accordance with the procedure, which resulted in the Assam colleges denying the students admissions to MBBS courses.
“This is an insult to the people of Meghalaya as a whole, especially to the students and youths. It also shows that the state government has neglected affairs regarding the careers of the students,” BJYM president Egenstar Kurkalang said.
He slammed the state government for allegedly spending more on festivals and entertainment programmmes than on education and jobs for the state’s youths. “This also shows the negligence and incompetency of the state government to run the administration. Therefore, we demand that the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues resign on moral grounds,” he added.
