‘Hindi Day’ celebrations

SHILLONG: On the occasion of ‘Hindi Divas’, which is celebrated every year on September 14, various programmes were organised organised in the state.
The Border Security Force (BSF), organised an event on Thursday where the importance of Hindi was deliberated by various speakers. BSF also observed ‘Hindi Pakhwada’ from September 1 onwards as per the directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs during which various activities were held.
All India Radio Shillong along with North Eastern Service is celebrating Hindi Fortnight from September 11- 22. On Thursday, an event was organised where Shashadhar Mandal, HOD and Deputy Director General (Engg) urged the use of the national language on a daily basis. Various competitions and worshops will be held during the period.
Ram Muivah, IAS, Secretary, North Eastern Council (NEC) also inaugurated the fortnight-long Hindi Pakhwada on Thursday. The event was graced by C. H. Kharshiing, Planning Adviser, G K Chin, Financial Adivser, W Synrem and D Khound, Economic Adviser among others.
