SHILLONG: The local NGOs of Bajengdoba, East Garo Hills, met the authorities of Bajengdoba PHC in their office on Wednesday concerning the issues faced by the people and the staff in the hospital. It was found that the major problem in the heath care facility was the absence of an ambulance or any vehicle which makes it difficult to transfer patients or even to procure medicines and other hospital essentials. In addition, there are a limited number of beds causing major inconveniences both to the public and the staff as well.
When some of the NGOs requested the staff to adjust to the present situation by keeping the serious patients in extra beds, they were told that the policy of Mega Health Insurance does not accept extra bills.
It was also discovered that the dentist of the PHC, Jesica R Marak, is always absent from duty causing the NGO bodies to demand transfer of the doctor.
The NGOs have decided to meet the local MLA to discuss the matter further.
