Koera Open Superseries: Sindhu in semis, Sameer bows out

Seoul, Sept 15 (UNI) Continuing her winning streak, PV Sindhu stormed into the semi-finals of the ongoing Korea Open Superseries badminton tournament at the Seong-nam Indoor Stadium here today.
The Olympic silver-medalist secured her semifinal berth after a 21-19, 16-21, 21-10 victory over Japan’s Minatsu Mitani in the quarters.
After a couple of closely fought games, Sindhu opened up with a seven-point lead at 9-2 and went on to stretch the lead 19-9 in the third game. The star Indian shuttler then easily took the remaining couple of points to enter the next round.
However, another India shuttler Sameer Verma bowed out of the tournament after suffering a 20-22, 21-10, 21-13 loss against local favourite Son Wan Ho in the quarters earlier in the day.
Son Wan had earlier defeated Parupalli Kashyap in the previous round. UNI
