SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has maintained that it is the prerogative of the State Government to convene the Assembly session.

“We would not convene the session only because there is demand from the Opposition. The Government decides to convene the session as and when it is required,” Dr Sangma told reporters on Wednesday.

He also dismissed the need to convene a session at present, saying that most of the issues had been discussed in the earlier session.

Earlier, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Conrad K Sangma had urged Governor RS Mooshahary to convene a winter session to discuss pertinent issues concerning the State.
