TURA: In the wake of criticism being leveled against Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma for inaugurating the newly established office of the Garo Students’ Union (GSU) at Williamnagar, the latter on Wednesday asserted that it had no intention of playing any political game.

A statement issued here by the union’s former general secretary, Rocky Filler M Sangma said that apart from the Chief Minister, invitations were also sent to Church leaders, Senior citizens and political leaders including Tura MP, Conrad Sangma but that all the invitees were unable attend the function.

Reacting to criticism raised by HSPDP leader, Ardent Basaiamoit over the issue, Sangma stated that he himself had had come to Tura in 2009 to attend the formation of the FKJGP while he was the sitting MLA of Nongkrem Constituency.

The clarification while claiming that the GSU, East Zone never accepted funds from any political parties or leaders, expressed gratitude to all well-wishers and organisations for their support.
