Boys Sports Company inaugurated at Assam Regimental Centre

SHILLONG: DS Ahuja, General Officer Commanding, HQ 101 area visited Assam Regimental Centre and interacted with members of Boys Sports Company inaugurated on Sep15 with a strength of 76 boy of age group 11- 14.
 Selection trials, purely on merit basis, were conducted at the centre for the induction of outstanding sports boys in disciplines like Wushu, Boxing, Hockey and Weight Lifting wef  February 8 to February 11, 2017. A total of 76 boys were selected.
The participants from different states of the north eastern region had to undergo tests in physical fitness and technical skill in their respective disciplines conducted by Sports Medicine Centre, Pune , SAI coaches and board of officers. The upper age limit was relaxed up to 16 years for sportsman of international/national repute.
The selected candidates shall be provided with free boarding and lodging, education from class VI to X in English medium with books, stationery and uniform, daily sports training under the coaches of Sports Authority of India, competition exposure with all expenditure, complete personnel sports kit and equipment and insurance cover including medical and accidental cover.
