SHILLONG: South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai in a programme on Saturday said that Raid Laban Social, Sports and Cultural Organisation (RLSSCO) will pay tribute to all past representatives.
KHADC CEM PN Syiem unveiled the bust of first Khasi MDC from Laban, (L) Babu Rayland Sing Lyngdoh Mawlong held at Iew Dak, Laban in the presence of MLA Shullai.
It may be reminded that the RLSSCO has constructed the bust of late Bhaskar Choudhury, an MDC in KHADC since 1972 and also an MLA from Laban constituency for two terms since 1978 to 1988.
Shullai added that the organisation will also construct a bust of late MLA Ardhendu Chaudhuri who was killed in a chopper crash along with nine others on September 22, 2004.
Lyngdoh Mawlong entered politics after the statehood and won the District Council seat in 1978 from the All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC). He passed away on April 13, 1981 while he was still an MDC. Meanwhile, Shullai said, “We will always remember the contribution of Babu Rayland to the people of Laban.”
