SHILLONG: The contractor who was implementing the Tetelia-Byrnihat railway project has formally written to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) about the difficulties in continuing work.
Sources in NFR said the contractor wrote the letter after the company’s equipment were damaged and burnt on two occasions.
According to sources, NFR may have to call for fresh tenders when the work resumes.
The government halted the project following violent protests earlier this year.
Sources also informed that the matter of resuming work was taken up for discussion on a few occasions but everybody is tightlipped on the matter.
The government has made it clear that the project will begin after entry and exit points are set up in the state to check influx.
