NONGSTOIN:  People’s Democratic Front (PDF) will field Synran Nongshlong, against sitting MLA KP Pangniang of HSPDP in Rambrai Jyrngam constituency.
The party took the decision in a meeting at Rngi Lower Iew Rambrai Community Hall on Friday. Nongshlong was also elected the president of PDF Zonal Committee.
Addressing a huge gathering, Nongshlong said, “I have waited for this moment to lead the people of Rambrai for a better change.”
He also thanked the PDF leaders for giving him the chance to contest in the upcoming election.
“I was the right hand man of K.P Pangniang but the party (HSPDP) did not give me a chance to take part in the last district council by-election. So this is a memorable moment for me to contest from PDF,” Nongshlong said. The meeting was also attended by the president of PDF State Executive Committee Ivanlumlang Marbaniang, MDC of Nongstoin constituency L.G.Nongsiej, MDC of Mawshynrut Morning Masor, general secretary of PDF Auspicious Lyngdoh and hundreds of PDF supporters who joined the party as members. He also hoped he would win the election if the people supported him. Speaking on the occasion, L.G. Nongsiej said if PDF came to power, they would eradicate the acts and rules that affected the customs and traditions of the Khasi and Jaintia people.
“We have suffered a lot from the ordinance brought by the Congress-led MUA – II government in the state, which has affected the powers of the village authorities. But I thank Pynshngain N Syiem who stood alone to fight those acts in the Supreme Court and brought back power to the headmen,” Nongsiej said.
