101-year-old man honoured on Intl Day of older persons

JOWAI: A 101 years old man, Shaimon Pyrbot was honoured with a certificate and a gift of Rs 10,000 by the Deputy Chief Minister, RC Laloo, during the observation of the International Day of Older Persons here on Wednesday.
The office of the District Social Welfare department, West Jaintia Hills gathered older persons at the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong, to show them love and appreciation, with the theme ‘Stepping into the Future’.
Laloo graced the occasion as the chief guest and the WJH Deputy Commissioner, R Rapthap as the guest of honour while former Joint Director Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, B Plain chaired the event.
The Dolloi Elaka Jowai, Puramon Kynjing and district social welfare officer, J Synnah beside senior citizens, were also present.Gifts were distributed to the elderly in appreciation for their contribution to the society.
