Congress ticket aspirant files FIR over morphed photo circulated in social media

TURA: Anamika J G Momin who is vying for a Congress ticket to contest from South Tura LAC in the upcoming 2018 assembly election, has filed an FIR against unknown persons for circulating her fake and indecent photo in the social media- Facebook and Whatsapp.

Momin who filed the FIR at Araimile Police Outpost on Saturday demanded stern action against the perpetrators of the cyber-crime. Momin’s fake photo was circulated in the social media on October 6.

“The perpetrators of this crime against me must be arrested immediately. This is a serious act of defamation and the authorities must do everything necessary to book the culprits,” Momin said in the FIR adding, such crimes against a mother is unacceptable and is condemned by all.

Momin, along with a women’s group and other supporters comprising youths and the general public on Monday, also met West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi and apprised him on the matter at the same time, demanding speedy action to nab the accused.

A copy of the FIR has also been forwarded to Superintendent of Police, M G R Kumar.
