Colombo: The Catholic church here on Saturday decided to boycott government functions in protest against a Sri Lankan police raid on a Mother Teresa charity.

Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, the head of the local Catholic church, here said they would stay away from attending state functions in protest. They have expressed their disappointment over the police raid conducted on a Mother Theresa charity over baby farm accusations.

“Our reaction to this is to stay away from any state functions or state-organised event in the month of December,” the Cardinal said. (PTI)
