Thieves target shops in city

SHILLONG: Two theft cases were reported on Tuesday, one at Mawlong Hat and the other at Fire Brigade.
In the first case, miscreants robbed a hardware shop around 7pm and took away Rs 1.5 lakh. The shop, M/S Hanuman Hardware, is owned by Kamal Sharma, police said. In another incident, a cellphone was stolen around 4pm from Avenues in Fire Brigade, according to the report lodged by Juleane Warjri.
Last month, motor parts worth over Rs 70,000 were stolen from two shops at Madanryting. On September 28 and 29, miscreants took away motor parts worth around Rs 34,000 from a garage owned by Banri J J Kharpyngrope. Machine parts worth around Rs 40,000 were stolen from another garage.
