SHILLONG: The Nazareth Hospital Workers’ Union (NHWU), Meghalaya’s first private hospital union, has been on a black badge protest for the last one week.
In a statement released to the press, the union said that it was forced on an agitation path because the management at the hospital has been tardy in acknowledging the workers’ legitimate demands regarding their wage, working condition, working hours, bonus and overtime among others. NHWU had submitted a charter of demands to the management which consisted of all the benefits which are due to the workers according to Indian Labour Laws.
The Union also informed that the black badge protest and other agitational forms would continue till the managing board of the hospital agrees to negotiate the charter of demands.
